JOB SUMMARY -
The Fitness Manager II (FMII) ensures the club delivers an outstanding and well-rounded fitness experience to all members through a holistic approach to offering fitness products and services. Through hiring and developing talented team members who build relationships and translate the value of fitness offerings, a strong focus on behaviors that drive member retention, and proactively reviewing process and team member effectiveness, the FMII drives both successful member engagement and attainment of fitness revenue goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Leadership Excellence - 60%
Hires, trains and fosters continuous development of all Fitness team members, including Fitness Coaches (FC), Master Coaches (MC), Group X Coaches (GXC), and Fitness Supervisor (FS).
Leads Fitness team members to provide members with a full complement of fitness
offerings tailored to meet members' individual needs. Models relationship building and
product/service offerings, and acts as subject matter expert to support all team
members in providing total fitness solutions.
- Cultivates Fitness team members' skills through continuous assessment, feedback and
coaching via session/class observation.
- Implements and oversees regular training to ensure all fitness team members provide
exceptional service in a member-centric environment. Regularly shares industry updates
to complement offerings.
Encourages members to take advantage of a wide assortment of fitness offerings tailored to meet their goals, and inspires team members throughout the club to do the same.
Manages overall performance, engagement, and personnel matters for fitness team
members.
- Responsible for the successful attainment of department targets, including revenue, class penetration, and member retention though all fitness offerings in club.
Fitness Management - 30%
- Develop fitness business and GX program plans utilization and review weekly sales
numbers & club statistics with General Manager to identify potential revenue gaps
and modify team execution strategy as necessary.
- Creates and updates fitness, group sessions and class schedules, including open class
management and group session and class coverage, to bring to members the right
classes at the right time. Drives improved group session and class utilization and
effectiveness of programming.
- Manages fitness and GX labor budgets, and ensures team members properly use the
Time & Labor and Fitness Scheduling Systems.
- Ensure accurate administration of Personal Training including client records,
measurement tracking, and workout programs.
Evaluates, manages and support all aspects of fitness and GX equipment ordering.
Oversees and engages in the successful onboarding of new members clients, fully
acclimating to fitness offerings to achieve fitness goals.
Cross Functional Leadership and Development - 10%
- Develops a broad skill set in order to understand the fundamental roles and duties of
the Sales & Service Manager (SSM) and GM.
*Leans in to provide members with solutions to all club-related needs or concerns,
where SSM/GM are absent and/or need extra support
Actively engages in formal and informal cross-training activities.
Coach client sessions, group sessions and classes occasionally.
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS
All Fitness Coaches, Master Coaches and Group X Coaches report directly to the FMII.

Minimum Educational Level/Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications
1-2 years' management experience, preferably in retail or hospitality industry, leading 20+ employees
2+ years as a Personal Trainer preferred
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions
-Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
-Physical effort required for daily duties include lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting and prolonged standing and walking.
Travel Requirement
- Availability to travel 10% of the time to attend training and meetings
