The Sr. Director of Production & Photography leads the production team, and works with the VP Content, Brand & Media to set and maintain the video and production strategy and deliver a branded visual identity across all content and media. This position will lead and manage all aspects of pre-production, production, and post productions. This position is responsible for production budget and ensure organizational timelines. Reports to the VP Content, Brand & Media.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

Productions

Directing & Leading Video and Photography Shoots

  • Produce and direct the development (including pitch, production, edit, and delivery) of highly shareable, cutting edge signature content and information packed videos including new short-form franchises, functional fitness videos, brand creatives and video and photography assets formats around health, fitness, lifestyle and well-being.

  • Provide leadership on productions processes, methodology, creativity and tools that span multiple cross-functional Marketing groups. Identify and leverage personal and team production best practices to help successfully scale productions.

  • Complete production projects from start to finish; strategize and ideate individually or in partnership with content team and business owners from initial concept to final files, based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts that adhere to brand guidelines and parameters of the Creative Brief.

  • Provide Audio/Visual technical, lighting, audio, and set expertise in the development, planning and execution of productions and provide oversight to all studio Productions, equipment inventory and management of production process and assets.

  • Direct film crews and talent in studio or location, under tight deadlines with varying budgets and across all phases of production and post-production in studio including scripting, storyboarding and audio, visual and live productions.

  • Leverage existing assets to repurpose and create new segments as needed and make sure the pipeline of new content is well maintained, and that archival content is effectively resurfaced.

  • Review, edit, and approve preliminary and final treatments, outlines, shooting scripts, scripts, casting, production schedules, budgets, selects, graphics, music, rough cuts, fine cuts, final narration and final versions of all assigned programs.

  • Adhere to and be accountable for all aspects of the editorial, budgetary and production standards, as well as contractual and deliverables requirements for programming and productions.

  • Manage resources/issues, and escalate as appropriate to resolve resource conflicts .

Photography

Branded Video and Photography Studio, Lighting & Set Design

  • Provide leadership and expertise to the VP Content & Programming to shape the strategic vision and direction of 24Life and 24GO video programming to develop the video, photography and audio product experience, vision and manage the respective product lines to meet corporate, strategic, and financial goals.

  • Lead production and post production teams including content team and marketing services, photography, retouching, etc. regarding project deliverables to maintain brand standards and make crucial editorial and brand decisions; exercise strong quality control and editorial judgment; edit scripts; and establish rules on the set for decision making.

  • Provide creative vision, strategy, production design, and execution to deliver a cohesive branded visual identity through all productions to protect the brands and sub brands and partner brands' existing goals and overall strategy across all productions.

  • Give expert guidance to brand, media, and content leadership to identify content needs and signature looks for each new production series, franchise or tentpoles and guide creative vision for segments and stories.

  • Lead and manage the production and content teams to develop, produce, and edit original video content optimized for the 24HF brands digital and mobile platforms, editorial and social channels and attend and contribute to departmental meetings and presentations

  • Develop and employ creative objectives for brand and partner brands through all productions, creative and communicate with outside vendors to ensure consistency across creative assets.

Production Team Leadership

  • Offer expert guidance to the VP Content, Brand & Media, production team and business leads to develop and refine our in-house capability for production and post-production to include photography, video filming, live broadcasting, podcasting, editing, animation, basic color, basic visual effects and sound recording.

  • Lead team of producers and creators, allocating resources against our priority goals and deadlines to achieve timelines and production deliverables for 24GO, 24Life 24HF brand, editorial projects, photo director, PR director, and digital team, programming team and marketing team.

  • Foster and cultivate positive energy on sets, manage expectations and work collaboratively to find creative solutions to problems that arise during the development of projects in order to deliver projects as scheduled, at the highest level of craft.

  • Develop production team skill level: share design, production, and project management best practices to balance speed with craftsmanship to deliver the highest quality work possible focused on scalable quality and craft in the final deliverables for each project.

  • Responsible for writing and delivering Performance Management Reviews to his/her team and providing coaching and/or support throughout the year; in an on-going process.

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Studio Manager to facilitate meetings, travel planning, staffing, manage communication and workflows, creative reviews, approval meetings, production calendar workshops and retrospectives with internal meetings and external partners.

Studio 24, Production and Post Production and Video/Photography Strategy

Oversight of the Post Production Process and Quality Control

  • Drive development and implementation of overall strategy for productions and adjust that strategy as platforms change and new audience data is gathered.

  • Develop video processes and solutions (in partnership with the Studio Manager and post production team) to create efficiencies in the digital organization.

  • Evaluate and cultivate creative concepts & define deliverables based on media plans, using data-backed insights and translating those insights into powerful creative recommendation

  • Develop, deliver and manage strategic video initiatives and communicate department roadmaps

  • Maintain records, production schedules and creative assets.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

Position reports to VP Content, Brand & Media. Position leads the other production team members, business owners, talent and the VP Brand, Content and Media throughout the creative/production/post production process to maintain the highest level of creativity and accuracy with regard to content creation and production quality. Interacts with talent, vendors, partners and producers. Position directly manages Camera Operator/Cinematographer, Studio Manager, and Sr. Video Editor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced skill in the production of all types of photography.

  • Expertise in all types of video production and knowledge of video best practices.

  • Extensive skill level in photography, lighting & editing and set design.

  • Broad marketing and brand design experience across e-commerce, retail, editorial, and advertising sectors of the fashion or sportswear industry

  • Creative and innovative design thinking.

  • Extensive proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, etc.)

  • Ability to manage and motivate team members and shows a willingness to help out peers when needed and collaborates well with others to achieve shared goals

  • Creative and precise attention to detail and ability to give and to accept direction

  • Adapts to change easily, comfortable trying new tools and seeks to apply tools to solve problems.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, etc.)

  • Practical knowledge production equipment and operations

  • Knowledge of Set Design

  • Professional training or Professional degree and classical training in Design, Photography, Cinematography or Applied Arts.

  • Bachelor's Degree -- Marketing, Business Administration.

  • 8+ years of direct experience in original video production and original photography

  • 5+ years running a production studio and/or studio/agency experience.

  • 3+ years of direct experience delivering post production services.

  • Experience leading and directing the work of others and develop the production team ensuring appropriate staffing, skill sets and process improvements

  • Demonstrated experience working with Editorial and brand teams and talent to provide clear direction and oversee final delivery of all creative assets.
