Reporting to the Director, Internal Communications, the Sr. Manager, Field Communications develops and manages field-facing communication programs that drive employee engagement for our 22,000+ in-club team members in support of the company's internal communications strategy and broader business objectives. The ideal candidate is an experienced storyteller and strategist with the ability to bring our mission- To Create a Healthier, Happier World to life as well as communicate a variety of business priorities in a cohesive, compelling way that informs and inspires our field team.


Internal Communications

  • Devise and implement communications plan that connects field team members to the purpose and priorities of the business, with the larger goal of enabling them to better deliver against strategic and financial performance objectives

  • Develop editorial calendar and establish appropriate communications cadence, working to streamline the volume and prioritize the type of information sent to the field

  • Partner with Operations/Field Leadership on building and executing strong change management communications plans to support major initiatives.

  • Write/edit both original content and on behalf of our business partners on a wide range of business topics. This includes synthesizing business language and complex information into clear, targeted, and impactful messages for a variety of field roles/audiences.

  • Drive strategy and execution for all field-facing meetings (e.g. weekly Field Cascade call, DM Summit, GM Summit, GM Training Camps, etc.):

o Lead content development for meetings including agendas, facilitation guides, slide decks, videos, etc.

o Create supporting collateral including welcome materials, key messaging docs, etc.

o Oversee meeting logistics including venue selection, lodging, travel, food & beverage, audio/visual support, etc.

  • Provide executive communications support to Field Leadership including, but not limited to, organizational announcements, speeches, presentations, and talking points

  • Partner with Learning & Development team to develop onboarding and ongoing training videos/materials in support of field team members' career development

  • Consistently look for ways to enhance existing communication vehicles and processes for greater efficiency and maximum impact. This includes identifying gaps in communication and creating solutions to close them, as well as providing more opportunities for two-way dialogue between senior leadership and field teams.

  • Create and implement methods for measuring communication effectiveness in driving employee engagement ongoing; integrate results into future communications

  • Own communications operations including managing communication distribution, mailboxes, calendars, and budgets 70%

Business Partner Communication

  • Cultivate effective, strategic relationships with key business partners (Field Divisions, Retail, HR, Marketing, etc.) throughout the organization

  • Serve as an expert in your domain, providing communications counsel to senior leaders and other business partners on a variety of topics and in support of "serving up the right message to the right audience at the right time 30%

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel.)

Minimum Educational Level/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field- or equivalent experience.

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications

  • 10-12 years of internal communications experience, with at least five years' experience working in either a communications and/or operations role in a multi-unit environment.
