JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant performs month-end close, audit support, accounting research, ad-hoc analyses, process improvement, and other projects. The Senior Accountant has a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ability to research new pronouncements and apply the appropriate accounting treatment to the Company's new contracts/agreements/initiatives. The Senior Accountant ensures that GAAP are being practiced consistently in all responsible areas to ensure the accuracy of the accounting records and related financial statements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Monthly Close
Assume full ownership for areas of responsibility.
Prepare monthly journal entries, fluctuation analyses, trend analyses, reconciliations and additional schedules.
Meet with internal departments and outside parties to ensure transactions and reports are recorded and produced timely and accurately.
Train, coach and lead other accountants through all monthly close processes.
Special Projects
- Support Senior Accounting Manager on special projects for a broad range of transactions and initiatives.
Process Improvement
- Work with team to streamline existing processes and to eliminate redundant or non-value added work to continue to keep pace with company growth while minimizing the expansion of existing resources by determining ways to continually improve existing processes either through automation or re-design of existing business practices.
External Audits, Interim and Year End
Prepare and review external auditor interim and annual audit schedules.
Work with auditors to resolve issues and to make appropriate corrections to business processes going forward.
Train, coach and lead other accountants through all audit processes.
ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS
The Senior Accountant reports to the Senior Accounting Manager. Works with all levels of management both within Finance and with the non-financial business owners. Frequently interaction with the Vice President of Accounting, Director of Accounting and other business owners.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to appropriately communicate with all levels in the organization.
Exercise good judgment in elevating issues to management timely.
Ability to read and interpret Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Ability to prepare written memorandums summarizing accounting research.
Experience in making process changes to incorporate new business ventures.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to interact with internal and external auditors.
Minimum Educational Level/Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent experience.
Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications
5+ years of professional experience in accounting.
Large company background experience.
Professional level accounting experience should include but is not limited to, general accounting financial statement preparation and research of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Physical Demands/ Environmental Conditions
- Must work on a computer for extended periods of time.

- Travel is not a requirement for this role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access including creating of new databases, importing data from other applications and developing queries.
Work Experience and Qualification
- "Big Four" Accounting firm experience.

24 Hour Fitness offers benefit programs designed to meet the diverse needs of all team members, including health coverage, as well as Company paid benefits that are automatically provided at no cost, such as group life and accident insurance. There are eligibility requirements for each plan based on your position, hire and/or service date and your average hours worked. Benefit eligible team members may also accrue vacation hours. All 24 Hour Team members, and their eligible dependents, receive a complimentary membership.
Compensation Summary
All Employees: Free Club Membership, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Basic Group Live and AD&D Insurance ($10,000), and 401k Savings and Investment Plan.
Average of 30 hours or more per week: Medical/Dental/Vision Benefits, Paid Time Off, and Sickness Benefits (in addition to the above).
Washington State : Receive 40 hours of sick time on your first day of employment. After 6 months of employment, accrue 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 120 hours, inclusive of time carried over.
Actual offer may vary from posted hiring range based on location, work experience, and/or education.
Salary range will vary based on geography of the applicant. Pay Range for Los Angeles, Orange County and Seattle: $84,065.00-$105,110.00 (Exempt), $40.42-$50.53 (Non-Exempt) Pay Range for Bay Area (California) & New York City (incl. New Jersey): $87,720.00-$109,680.00 (Exempt), $42.17-$52.73 (Non-Exempt) Pay Range for San Diego & Carlsbad (California) and all other locations: $78,948.00-$98,712.00 (Exempt), $37.96-$47.46 (Non-Exempt)
